Workshop 1: Architectural Drawings

Week 4: Final Assignment

The final assignment was to draw design/presentation drawings on Rose Seilder House. This consisted of elevations, sections, floor plans and 3D drawing. When I studied the house I noticed many things about the house. The open space of the house is accentuated by many windows allowing a large amount of natural light into the building. It is divided into two main areas, the public/living domain (which includes the kitchen/dining area and living room) and the private domain. The deck and 'playroom' act as a path and mediator between the two. This pathway can even be adapted to suit a situation, with a full height curtain able to divide the playroom and a doorway joining the deck to the master bedroom.

The assignment was challenging but also rewarding. We were able to use the skills we learnt in class. The most challenging part of the assignment was arranging where to put the plans and elevations. Thinking which arrangements were best to communicate the design clearly (however from this blog you cannot tell how the plans are arranged but it is suppose to be picture (a) bottom right, (b) top left, (c) bottom left, (d) top right)
